Description

Stainless Steel 304 Solar Mesh

Description

Choose black PVC-coated Stainless Steel 304 solar mesh for replacement sections, additional coverage or installations where you already have compatible clips. The 0.7 mm stainless-steel wire core provides the underlying structure, while the black PVC finish gives the mesh a discreet appearance around your solar panels.

Installed around the array perimeter with suitable fixings, this stainless steel solar panel mesh helps reduce access by birds and other pests, including possums and rats. It also helps reduce the build-up of leaves, nesting material and other debris beneath the panels. Correct fitting around corners and roof contours helps minimise entry gaps. Mesh is supplied separately, so you can purchase the component you need.

UV-stabilised PVC for Australian rooftop exposure

Australian rooftops expose solar mesh to sunlight, heat and changing weather. The PVC coating formulation includes a dedicated UV absorber and a HALS light stabiliser, supported by carbon black. Together, these ingredients are intended to help slow deterioration caused by sunlight and support the coating’s weather resistance.

The UV absorber helps absorb ultraviolet light, while the HALS stabiliser helps interrupt the degradation processes that can age plastics. Carbon black provides the dark finish and contributes additional UV protection. This gives the coating a defined stabiliser formulation for outdoor use, beyond colour alone.

Flexibility and weathering performance

The PVC material has an elongation at break of 190–240%, indicating its ability to stretch before breaking under test conditions. A plasticiser supports flexibility, while a calcium-zinc stabiliser supports thermal stability. These qualities are useful for a coating on mesh that is handled and shaped during installation.

The PVC coating has passed a 1,000-hour xenon-arc ageing test using ASTM G155 and has water absorption of no more than 0.2% over 24 hours using ASTM D570. These properties support its use in outdoor applications exposed to sunlight and moisture. Accelerated ageing hours are not a direct measure of years of service on a roof.

Stainless mesh for replacement and additional coverage

The wire core is Stainless Steel 304 with a diameter of 0.7 mm. Select compatible clips for your panel-frame profile and allow for corners and overlaps when measuring your installation. For exposed coastal sites, contact us to discuss suitability before ordering.
